Intellectual Property
Our IP team is geared towards anticipating and meeting our clients' needs. We proactively manage each client's trade mark and patent portfolio both efficiently and cost-effectively. By undertaking constant monitoring of pending matters, we provide regular status reports on any pending trade mark or patent application. Clients also receive reminders prior to annual fees or renewals falling due.
In conjunction with the Litigation Practice Group, Appleby has substantial experience in taking action to protect against the infringement of IP rights and in the conduct of passing-off actions. We also offer investigative services to identify the source of, and distributors of, infringing goods, working closely with police and customs officials as necessary.
Appleby offers a full range of IP services in the UK, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Mauritius, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin islands and over 30 other Caribbean countries. In many of these Caribbean countries it is necessary to maintain a UK (or Community) registration upon which the local Caribbean registration is based. In order to more efficiently service our clients' needs we offer a service address for our non-UK based clients and can obtain all the necessary documentation from the UK Patent Office for Caribbean applications.
