Business Support Roles

Appleby provides outstanding opportunities for those wishing to develop a career in professional services. With offices around the world, the need for exceptional business support staff is critical.

Business support functions such as compliance, finance, human resources, information technology and marketing have teams in most of the Appleby offices, supporting both the local legal and fiduciary teams as well as taking global responsibility in some areas. Knowledge Management professionals including professional support lawyers (PSLs) provide a wide-ranging expertise to the group, including the development and updating of know-how and best practices, portal design and content management, legal research and training, business information and competitive intelligence gathering, records management and law library science.

All of these functions are co-ordinated globally by dedicated business support directors, and staff are exposed to a great variety and mix of work in their particular specialism.

Opportunities for professionals at all levels of these business support roles provide exciting challenges for those who can meet the demands of a growing and forward-thinking organisation.

Secretaries

The law firm environment calls for experienced legal secretaries, familiar with the standards required by the courts, corporate clients, trusts and property work. Given the increasing computer skills of our legal teams, we often have one secretary working for two or more lawyers, assisting with document production, practice management and general organisation. Other areas of the business such as fiduciary and administration services also have requirements for top quality secretaries who can manage the workload of several fee-earners and provide a supportive and professional service.
